The THS Black Culture Club is proud to invite all students, faculty, and staff to this year’s 27th Annual Hands Across Campus celebration this Friday, January 13, 2017. This annual event will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and honors our own richly diverse student body through dance, music, poetry, and the reading of Dr. King’s  I Have a Dream” speech. Visions of Unity Contest:  Students wanting to earn some fame and money, as well as an opportunity to better their community, should submit their visual arts or literature pieces by Friday, 1/20.  This contest is for Torrance students only and theme is expressing your vision of unity through the visual arts or literature. Contest info is available at www.visionofunity.com  or in the principal's office.

Join the Advanced Theatre students for a night filled with song, dance, and great entertainment! The 18th Annual Night of Broadway is January 18, at 7:00pm, in the Little Theater. Tickets are $5, but seating is limited, so make sure you flag down an Advanced Theatre student if you want a ticket!   You don’t wanna’ miss this!                                                                                                              C. Listen up Surfers! Meeting in room C-106 this Thursday at lunch. We are going to review Friday’s dawn patrol assignments…Hey Tartars; your Torrance High Surf Team will be competing this Friday, before school at Torrance Beach. Come cheer for the short and longboard boys and girls as they out shred the surfers from North and West. The action begins at 6:30am and goes on until 830am. See you there!                                                                                                                                                                              Johnston
 
Interested in the medical profession? An intern opportunity that includes shadowing people in medical professions in the hospital will be offered this coming summer for student who are currently juniors or senior (born before 4/1/2001). Programs are 2, 3, and 4 weeks long. This program is competitive. Application deadline is 2/22/17. More information about this internship & the application is available on their website: http://www.lapedsoc.org/summer Students are encouraged to complete the application online and download their completed copy rather than writing it out by hand.

SENIORS! Sandpipers has been providing financial assistance to college-bound students since 1941 in the South Bay. Supporting more than 40 students per year, the program is unique in funding our qualified recipients throughout the four continuous years of their undergraduate studies. Any senior student meeting all eligibility requirements is eligible to apply for a Sandpipers Scholarship. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Cumulative G.P.A.
