RED RIBBON WEEK! Fact: Addiction is a complex disease with behavioral characteristics…40 million Americans ages 12 and older have addiction involving nicotine, alcohol or other drugs, a disease affecting more Americans than heart conditions, diabetes or cancer                                     Jones
~The Wrestling team is looking for Statisticians to travel with the team. Keep score, run clocks and other bookkeeping activities. See Mr. Snider if interested, in B222 or after school in the Wrestling room, by 10/31.                                             Snider
~The Attic is open M-F from 3 to 9 pm. Includes a computer room, game room, Café, pool table, basketball, fitness center and more. Membership is only $10.00 If you’re looking for Volunteer hours, join the S.P.I.N. Club at The Attic. Meetings are held the first Wed. of every month at 5 pm. Must be an Attic member.
~Need help with Homework? NHS offers FREE tutoring in the Library every Tues. & Thurs. from 3:00 to 3:30. All students welcome.                                                                                                                                          
*Reflections Contest entries are due Wednesday, October 29, at 3pm in the principal’s office. If you need an entry form, stop by the principal’s office.
*The Breast Cancer Awareness buckets will be picked up today before school by members of the volleyball team.  If your bucket is not picked up I would appreciate it if a TA could drop if off in ASB sometime today.  Winners will be announced by the end of the week.                                 Jones

*The Torrance Sister City Association – applications to be part of a student exchange program to Kashiwa, Japan are available on line at www.torrancesistercity.org or in the principal’s office. You must be in 10th grade or above and live in Torrance to participate. Experience being a student ambassador with a trip to Japan. SENIORS

COUNSELING
Letters of Recommendation:  Give recommenders (counselors & teachers) 3 weeks to write letter of rec., copy of Brag Sheet and teachers need copy of transcript. Most often you need 2 letters. Student’s profile must be completed on the Common Ap website prior to being able to “invite” people to recommend you, and counselors must complete School Report on Ap. UC & CSU schools do not need letters of rec. See counselor if you have questions.                                                                            
Students who registered for the PLAN test (10th & 9th graders) should have received a flyer in English class.  If you did not, see Mrs. Dillon in Counseling Office.  Room assignments will be posted Mon., 10/27 on the outside doors of the administration building and the library.  Test is Sat., 11/1.                                                                                                   
CLUBS
We have a super important STOP club meeting TODAY, 10/28. We need all members present to help us prepare for Harvest Fest.            Duvall
